Located near the southernmost boundary of Santa Cruz County, Watsonville is a small city with a population of approximately 50,000. Compared to Silicon Valley, which is located about 50 miles away, homes for sale in Watsonville are considerably cheaper in terms of price per square foot, making Watsonville an affordable option for commuters. There are a variety of newer homes and fully remodeled older homes, with prices ranging between $260 and $450 per square foot. Aside from easy access to Silicon Valley, Watsonville residents are just a short drive away from beautiful state parks, wildlife areas, and the beautiful California coast.
Sunset State Beach is about a 10-minute drive from the heart of Watsonville and is one of the best places in Santa Cruz County to enjoy the outdoors. Visitors are able to enjoy incredible views of nearby Monterey Bay before taking a scenic hike. Other activities at Sunset State Beach include fishing, camping, and picnicking. No matter what time of year it is, there is always something fun to experience at this gorgeous stateside park.
The City of Watsonville is a part of the Santa Cruz Metro public transit system, and several routes provide the ability to travel around town or to the city of Santa Cruz in under an hour. Commuting by car is also incredibly easy and convenient thanks to the Pacific Coast Highway running through the western border of Watsonville. However, those who need to travel to/from San Jose, U.S. Route 101 is a much better option.
